Subject and Predicate

The Sentence:

  • A group of words like this which makes a complete sense is called Sentence. A sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop, a question mark or an exclamation mark.. A sentence consists of a subject and a predicate.
  • Subject and Predicate:

  • Subject is that part of the sentence that names the person or a thing referred to, or the one that does the action.or the one on whom the action is performed.
  • Predicate is that part of the sentence which provides more information about the subject.
  • SubjectPredicate
    The teachertaught the class.
    The smart teachertaught the whole class
    The smart, wise teacher of my schooltaught the active, young students of class 12th.

    The Subject:

    Generally the adjectives also from part of the subject.

    Examples:

  • The smart teacher
  • The smart, wise teacher of my school
  • Sometimes the subject may consist of an article: a, an or the or an adjective that modifies the subject,

    Example:

  • The smart, wise teacher of my school
  • The Predicate:

    The predicate may comsist of an article, a noun, pronoun, adjectives or an object.
